The scholarship program was managed by Scholarship Management Services out of Saint Peter, Minnesota, and has been a part of Pentair’s history for over eight years. 2013 scholarship requests were received from 15 states and two Canadian providences, averaging an overall 3.68 grade point average.
Susan O’Grady, Pentair Marketing Manager, states: "We think it's important to help provide educational assistance to our dealer's employees and children to help further their knowledge base and support future career growth. Studies show that scholarship winners go to better schools, are more likely to graduate, and are more likely to graduate sooner--and the studies suggest this is because they won a scholarship, not just because they're smart and motivated. We want to help further the success of children involved in our industry."
Per scholarship winner Ethan Brummel, “By awarding me this scholarship, you have lightened my financial burden which allows me to focus more on my education and future career. I promise you that I will work hard and eventually give back to others through agricultural and environmental advances. I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.”
Layne Pyburn recently sent a thank-you note stating “I am honored to be a recipient of the Pentair Pro Dealers Sons & Daughters Scholarship. I thank you for the generous support of this scholarship. I hope to represent you in a positive manner, and give back to you as you have given to me.”
And to sum it up nicely, per Jeremy Bushe, “It reassures me that my dream of becoming a biomedical engineer and starting my own business for designing medical apparatuses will one day become a reality. It’s sincerely joyful to see a company that is willing to help the next generation of entrepreneurs and high-achievers get through college….we are compassionate in supporting a company with such clear philanthropic goals.”
